On February 20th & 21st and March 20th & 21st, 2010 Los Cazadores will host two separate, 24 hour, statewide Predator Calling Contests. In the past, we have only done one but with the popularity of the competition increasing, we have decided to have two contests. This contest is open to any individual that has a valid Texas Hunting License with no stipulation on age. The entry fee is $150.00 per team. Teams, of up to four members, compete against other teams to see who can call in the most predators (Coyotes, Bobcats, Mountain Lions, Red Fox and Grey Fox). Each of these species is given a point value. The point system is as follows:
Mountain Lion = 200 Points
Red Fox = 50 Points
Bobcat = 30 Points
Coyote = 20 Points
Grey Fox = 5 Points
There are also “heavy weight side pots” for each species, which cost $20.00 each. Cash prizes are awarded to the winners. The number of places is determined by the number of entries. Last year, 30 teams competed from all over the state. This contest is a fun way to manage your predator population before does start giving birth to fawns. Last year, First Place took home over $1,200.00 in Prize Money!
