Los Cazadores - Hunting Headquarters & Deer Contest

LOS CAZADORES ART, WRITING, AND PHOTO CONTEST

Los Cazadores Hunting Headquarters and Deer Contest Center, as a part of the Los Cazadores Deer Contest, and Buddy and Nancy Jordan of Indian Creek Outfitters are proud to announce the 3nd Annual Los Cazadores Art, Writing, and Photo Contest. The 2007-2008 contest will have a few changes that will entice more entrants from a broader spectrum. Not only does Los Cazadores realize that there are many talented youth who enjoy wildlife and hunting, as well as drawing, writing and photography, but we also realize that many adults enjoy these activities, too.

The age divisions for the Art, Writing, and Photo categories will be 8 and under, 9 to 12, 13 to 15, 16 to 18, and 19 and up. We will continue an adult category for those adults who are not published, nor professionals. We would like to keep this competition strictly for the amateurs.

The rules for each category have remained the same. And, there is still no entry fee required. However, all entries must be sent or brought to the Los Cazadores Headquarters, 490 South IH 35, Pearsall, Texas, 78061. The contest will begin October 1, 2007 and the deadline for entries will be February 1, 2008. This will give all contestants an opportunity to photograph, draw, or write about the current season, although you may include photos, art or stories from the past.

For the Art competition, just about any type of media is acceptable, including pencil, colored markers, crayons, water color, scratch board, oil, acrylic, and the list goes on. The preferable size of the artwork is 8 ½ by 11 inches. However, larger works will be permitted. Only one entry per contestant per category is allowed. The artwork must include the artist's name, address, telephone number, email address (if applicable) and age on the back to be accepted (no exceptions.) The subject must be wildlife and/or hunting. Artwork will be judged by artists and patrons of the art.

For the Writing competition, the stories must be a minimum of 100 words and involve hunting and/or wildlife. Stories may be hand-written or typed and must include a cover sheet with the writer's name, address, telephone number, email address (if applicable) and age (no exceptions.) Illustrations and pictures are not necessary, nor will they be used for judging the material. Only one entry per contestant per category is allowed. Stories will be judged by literary constituents.

For the Photo competition, only photos 5 X 7 or 8 X 10 will be accepted. The subject of the photo must be wildlife and/or hunting. Digital and film prints are acceptable. The photographer's name, address, telephone number, email address (if applicable) and age (no exceptions) must appear on the back of the photo, along with the type of camera used (i.e., 35mm Canon, Power Shot A75 Canon.) Only one entry per contestant per category is allowed. Photos will be judged by professional photographers and/or wildlife enthusiasts.

The 2007 Art, Writing and Photo Contest also includes an In-Field Trophy Pose Photo competition. For this particular competition, there will be no age constraints. There will be one overall winner. If you have a unique, awesome, interesting, or adorable field photo with a trophy deer and/or hunter, this is the contest for you. The photo does not necessarily have to be taken during this hunting season. However, it must be either 5 X 7 or 8 X 10 and on the back it must include the photographer's name, address, telephone number, email address (if applicable) and age. This is a competition for the person taking the photo, not the person in the photo, unless that is the same person. Once again, only one entry per person is allowed. Digital or film prints will be accepted.

While a person may enter only one entry per category, they are more than welcome to enter all three categories, as well as the In-Field Trophy Pose Photo competition. All entries will become the property of Los Cazadores and may not be returned.

Winners will be announced on the Los Cazadores web site as soon as they become available after the February 1, 2008 deadline. They will also be announced in the 2008 issue of Los Cazadores. Winners for each age group in each category will receive their awards at the annual Los Cazadores Deer Contest Awards Program.
